Fort Washington, MD – Nuttin But Finesse and Jonathan Roberts did the hard work to wear down the pace setting Marco Beach and then held off the pocket-sitting Precision Bluechip to win the $12,000 Open I Handicap at Rosecroft Raceway.

Marco Beach set fractions of :26.2, :55.4, 1:24 with the eventual winner off his flank from the half mile pole on. Roberts looked to be beaten for a moment as Precision Bluechip came up the rail but as they got even, the winner found just a smidge more to win in 1:52.4. Sea Of Life was third hitting the board for the sixth straight start. Michael Hall trains the winner for William and Sarah Macmillan.

Roberts won twice on the card as he piloted Delaware Chrome to a victory and stop a two-year dry spell for the Mr. Apples offspring trained by Johnny Crites Jr.

Trae Porter, 22, won four times on the night, winning three of the first four races with Too Soon BG (Crites), Miki Is All In for Jerry Nock and Anthony’s All In owner Pamela Wagner and trainer John Wagner. Porter picked up a second win for Wagner with Bet On Blake.

Johnathan Ahle won twice on the card with Edge Of The World for Midsize Construction Incorporated and trainer Megan Roberts and Rhythm Of The Rein for Bob Weyforth and trainer Adrian Wisher.

Tyler Miller took the $10,000 Open II pace with Caviart Camden who won for the second time in three starts at Rosecroft for Friendship Stables LLC and trainer Maria Alvarez. in 1:51.2.

Jacob Roglitz, continued the 23-under brigade which continues to shine as he won with Sweetheart Deal, for fellow under-23 member, trainer Amanda Blackford, and owner Gary Crescenze, paying $61.20.

Not to be out done, 19-year old William Carter continues his strong start to the meet as he won two on the card. Bonnie Ben Rockin for owner Brian Emerson and trainer Kerry Welty. Carter won impressively with Jack Quick for owner/trainer Basil Sapienza, romping by just over six lengths to complete a driving double.

Corey Braden rallied from last with Hes Gonna Getya as one of three wins for trainer John Wagner, and Hugh O’Neil and Walden Woods edged Roberts and Tapped Teen in the finale in 1:51.
