Ft. Washington, MD — Got The Gold sat a patient pocket trip and eased past the pacesetting Illusion Seelster in the stretch to claim victory in the $12,000 Mares Open on Tuesday (Jan. 30) at Rosecroft.

Johnathan Ahle was in the bike for Let It Ride Stables and trainer Michael Hall and the final time of 1:50.4 erased Valerya from the record book as the fastest time for older mares that had stood since 2015.

Ahle also won for Hall with Mimado for owner Richard Poillucci.

Trae Porter won three times on the card including a 21-1 upset with McWilly making his second lifetime start for trainer Cory Mumford. Porter also scored with Big Bad Mosa for Mike Patterson and John Wagner’s Control The Thong.

Wagner also picked up a win with Stacey McLenaghan. She drove 15-year-old veteran Marty Monkhouser A, who won for the 57th time in his career, and first on the local scene, in the Mid Atlantic Amateur Drivers Club pace. Yogi Sheridan won the other division with Bankin On Bomb for Morgan Lister and trainer Bart Dalious.

Jonathan Roberts remained red hot, winning three times on the card. The dash standings leader teamed with Eli Scott for wins with Bama Breeze (Chesapeake Equine Clinic) and Boom Boom Bay (D&B Racing Stable). Roberts also won from post nine with Brian Burton’s Half A Virgin.

Trainer Chris Scicluna had an active day, winning three times on the Dover card and won with Funnyfunnyriddle with Hugh O’Neil driving for owner Brenda Hahn at Rosecroft.
