Maryland Sire Stakes and Maryland Standardbred Fund Programs

The Maryland Standardbred Race Fund is undertaking a top to bottom review of both the Maryland Sire Stakes and the Maryland Standardbred Fund programs.

Maryland Racing Commissioners Tammy Lafferty and Thomas Winebrener are serving as co-chairs.

On June 8, 2017, 18 industry stakeholders including breeders, owners and race track management participated in a round table discussion of the pros and cons of the current programs. While not committing to any series of ideas or proposals, the consensus of thegroup was that it is in everyone’s best interest to work towards improving the Maryland Standardbred breeding industry.
